We're just two Mid Aged Kiwis living in Cairns Australia. We work hard and love to travel. Young and fit enough to enjoy most things but old enough to stay away from the Party Scene. We're not overly financial so you'll see plenty of stuff on a budget. We hope to show you some of our travels and recommendations. We're not pro's at this video shooting and editing but hope to improve as we go. Enjoy

September 2020 we had a roadtrip out to Kynuna in QLD, home of the famous Blue Healer Hotel. We've driven past a few times but never called in. You have to do the Matilda HWY starts in NSW and goes all the way to Karumba in the gulf of carpenteray NQ
Got caught in the floods out at Winton Qld in 88 the year of expo was stuck for around 4 or 5 days The locals said they hadn't seen rain in about 5 yrs it started raining around 5 30pm the day before woke up at 6am the following morning and you couldn't get outta the town the local creek or small water crossing was running at a 100 mile an hour the current was just way too strong to attempt to cross unless you had a big high 4WD or a big high truck i was on my motorcycle so didn't have a hope unless it was towed across and put on the back of a vehicle 🚜

Visited the famous blue heeler hotel in western Qld back in 86 while travelling around Australia on my BMW Kseries RT she can get pretty warm outback especially in summer which direction are you heading im from Brisbane Queensland

Hi Steve, thinking of riding the Harley to Boulia. Is the road from Mt Isa to Boulia sealed all the way. Thanks.
Sorry for the very late reply. It’s sealed all the way but plenty of the road is one lane. In a vehicle you end up with one wheel on the road and one on the gravel shoulder. I’d 💯 do it On a bike but be prepared to stop if a truck is coming the other way. Cheers for watching!

Thank you. We loved this place but chose one of the hottest days to do it. It was a tough haul in the heat and on a 50cc scooter. Next time we go to Vietnam (soon we hope) we will stay here and spend a lot more time with the locals.

Gala gala underground house looked so interesting! Was it a bit scary in there? What did they built it for ?
It wasn't scary, just hot and humid. Interesting place for a short visit. Here,s a copy and paste description. Although I do believe a Hammer & Chisel was also used. Gala-gala was built by Made Byasa. He is a farmer, dancer and Mangku Dalang (puppet shadow performer). Due to his profession as a Dalang, he got inspired by one of Mahabharata episode, “Wana Parwa”; the twelve years in exile in the forest. In the story Pandawas decided to build a cave, Gala-gala, to protect his family from Korawas who wanted to find and kill all of Pandawas’s family. Mada Byasa got inspired and decided to build his own Gala-gala. The underground house is dug into the rock and covers and area of five hundred square meters. Made Byasa built this underground house by himself using nothing more than a crowbar. He started the project in 1961 and finished in 1976.
